NFHA Summons Mr Jackson Bent to IGP Office Over Constitutional Breaches
The National Freight Haulers Association of Nigeria (NFHA) hereby notifies its members, stakeholders, and the general public that, Mr. Jackson Bent, has been summoned to appear before the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, 25th March 2025 at 11:00 AM.
This action follows multiple breaches of the NFHA Constitution and bye-laws, which have raised significant concerns regarding leadership accountability, governance, and constitutional compliance within the Association.
Key Issues:
-
Tenure Overstay: Mr. Bent has exceeded the constitutionally allowed term limit for the office of President, despite several internal appeals and reminders for him to step down in line with the NFHA Constitution.
-
Dual Office Holding: He currently seeks to occupy both the office of President and that of Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) — a clear and direct violation of the Association’s established rules and governance framework.
Having exhausted all internal conflict resolution mechanisms, the National Executive Committee deemed it necessary to involve the appropriate authorities to preserve the integrity, transparency, and democratic foundation upon which NFHA was built.
The Association remains firmly committed to the rule of law, good governance, and the principles enshrined in its constitution. We reaffirm that no individual, regardless of rank or service history, is above the laws and standards of the Association.
Further updates on this matter will be communicated as developments unfold. We urge all members and partners to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast in upholding the values and vision of NFHA.
Signed,
NFHA National Executive Committee
